Many of those men who are subject to military service this year, after a long break in their studies or immediately after completing their previous studies, decided to enroll in a new specialization to obtain education in a different field . I am interested in the question of whether the right to deferment is preserved if I enrolled in a higher degree, but not in the specialty for which I already have a diploma.
Studying in a different profile: when the deferral is maintained
Deferral from mobilization is granted subject to compliance with the order of sequence of education , as defined in Article 23 of the Law “On Mobilization Training and Mobilization”.
That is, it doesn’t matter what profile you studied in before, the main thing is that you follow three rules:
- consecutive higher education for the one you have already obtained ( for example: you have obtained a bachelor’s degree in economics, you have enrolled in a master’s degree in psychology – the deferment will still be granted, since the sequence has not been broken );
- full-time or dual study ( evening or part-time study does not entitle you to a deferral )
- Studying in an accredited program ( you can check whether the program is accredited on the YEDEBO website ) at an educational institution that has a license from the Ministry of Education and Science to implement educational activities.
When a deferral will not be granted
You will not have a deferral in the new academic year from September 1 if you have obtained a bachelor’s degree in a field, for example, “psychology”, and this year you have re-entered the bachelor’s program in another field, for example, “economics”.
You will also not receive a deferral if you had an unfinished 3rd year of a bachelor’s degree in the specialty “economist” , and started studying for a bachelor’s degree again from the 1st year in the direction of “psychology”. To maintain the right to deferral in this case, you must resume the 3rd year of a bachelor’s degree in the specialty where you did not complete your studies . Otherwise, you will have to go to court to appeal the certificate of the EDEBO system. Which will see your, albeit unfinished, bachelor’s studies and will issue you a certificate of “denial” of the right to receive a deferral for studies at the CCC and SP.
The deferral will not apply to those students who have entered , albeit for higher education (according to the profile of previous education, or without it), but for part-time or evening studies .
Result
Deferral of the call for mobilization due to studies is not directly tied to the specialty in which you have already studied or are currently studying. The main condition is that the sequence of education that you are receiving must be higher than the previously obtained levels . Namely, studying exclusively in full-time or dual form .
