Young men born in 2009: how to register for military service in August 2026

In Ukraine, all young men are required to register for military service in the year they turn 17, even if you are abroad or do not want to connect your future with military service. Fortunately, for boys born in 2009, it is no longer necessary to personally go to the Military Medical Center, but rather to undergo a military medical examination there (this requirement was abolished by Resolution No. 560 ), as the legislation provided for several ways to resolve this issue, including online.

How to register online for 17-year-olds

The most convenient way, according to the Ministry of Defense , is remote registration through the mobile application “Reserve+” by identifying yourself through “Diya” or an electronic signature (Bank ID).

It is important to note that online registration in 2026 had a clearly limited time frame — from January 1 to July 31, 2026 inclusive . Since this period has already passed, online registration directly for 17-year-olds in “Rezerv+” is unavailable in August 2026. Therefore, the further algorithm of actions depends entirely on whether the teenager has turned 18.

Two scenarios for registration in August 2026

For young men born in 2009, there are currently two different registration mechanisms in place, depending on their exact age:

1. If the young man is still 17 years old (born between August and December 2009)

In this case, the only legal way to register is to personally apply to the territorial recruitment and social support center (TCK and SP) at your place of residence. It will no longer be possible to complete this procedure remotely via the application until you reach the age of majority.

2. If the young man is already 18 years old

For adult citizens, the process is significantly simplified and can take place without personal presence:

  • Automatic military registration: If a young man did not have time to register before reaching the age of majority, after reaching the age of 18 he can be registered automatically in the CCC and SP by order of the Ministry of Defense . All necessary data for this is pulled from the registers of the State Migration Service of Ukraine. With this format, it is not necessary to personally appear at the CCC and SP and undergo a military medical commission (VLK) . The system will automatically determine the appropriate CCC and SP based on the registered or declared place of residence.
  • Independently through “Reserve+”: Also, after reaching the age of 18, a young person can register independently through the application. If an 18-year-old citizen has not previously used the application and has not been registered, the system may immediately offer to complete online registration upon first login – for this, you will only need to check and confirm your personal data.

How to check your status through “Reserve+”

Since a citizen does not receive a separate notification when registering automatically, you must check your current status yourself. This can be done in a few steps:

  1. Install the ” Reserve+ “ application or update it to the latest version.
  2. Log in using the BankID system.
  3. Complete a short data clarification by confirming or updating your current contact information.

Possible statuses in the application:

  • “Conscript” (presence of an electronic military registration document Reserve ID): means that the young man has been successfully enrolled in military registration.
  • “Not registered”: indicates that registration has not yet taken place and you need to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

What to do if the status is “Not registered”?

If you see the status “Not registered” in the application, you can try to resolve this issue online:

  1. Log in to “Reserve+”.
  2. Select the electronic service “Register” .
  3. Check your personal data, confirm sending the request and wait for it to be automatically processed by the system.

Note: If after performing these steps the status in the application has not changed or you experience technical problems while trying to register online, the young man must personally contact the CCC and the SP at the place of registration to clarify all the circumstances.

It is also important to remember that thanks to the expansion of the “Reserve+” functionality in 2026, you can complete the online registration procedure (provided you meet the age requirements) even while abroad .
