Every spring, the information space is filled with rumors and outright manipulations regarding the conscription of women into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The magical date of April 1 plays a special role here, and this year 2026 was no exception: social networks are actively discussing the alleged strengthening of mobilization, which may in the future include forced mobilization, such a topic as the mobilization of women from April 1, 2026. As a military lawyer, I want to immediately reassure society and dot all the “i”s: there is no forced mobilization of women in Ukraine and it is not planned , because this is not happening simply by someone’s decree or simply at the request of the high command (although even there is no such thing now, the Ministry of Defense has repeatedly emphasized that women do not belong to the category of those who are planned to be forcibly mobilized in Ukraine).
Let’s take a detailed look at what the law says, what rules actually apply, and how to avoid succumbing to the enemy’s information attacks.

Military registration of women: who is required to appear at the CCC
According to current legislation, in 2026, military service for women remains exclusively voluntary, as of April 1, 2026, mobilization of women is not carried out. Only women who have obtained a medical or pharmaceutical specialty are required to register for military service. This rule is not new, it has been in effect since February 24, 2022.
This list includes:
- Doctors (all specialties);
- Nurses and paramedics;
- Dentists;
- Pharmacists and druggists.
An important point: has the list of professions for women’s military registration expanded since April 1? No. No new specialties (accountants, lawyers, programmers, or cooks) have been added to the mandatory list. Women of other professions can register solely at their own request.
Mobilization vs Military Registration
The main reason for the panic is the lack of understanding of the difference between these two concepts. If you ask whether there will be mobilization of women , the answer is clear: the law does not provide for the forced mobilization of women to the front.
- Military registration is another mandatory procedure for women with medical education, this procedure requires the state to collect statistical data on the available reserve of specialists (in our case, female doctors). That is, we emphasize once again that this is a bureaucratic procedure, not a potential sending to a military unit if you come to the CCK and SP.
- Mobilization (call-up to service) for women is possible only upon their voluntary consent or by signing a contract.

Women’s travel abroad from April 1: are there any restrictions?
This is the most popular question that worries Ukrainian women. We officially declare that now, as in 2025, from April 1, 2025: women’s travel abroad in 2026 is not limited, regardless of whether a woman is registered in the military. That is, even if you are a female doctor (with a medical or pharmaceutical education) who is subject to military service, you are allowed to travel abroad in 2026 for an unlimited period. Just remember about the limitation of visa-free stay abroad to 90 days per year.

Female doctors and pharmacists who have updated their data in the CCC and have a military registration document cross the state border on general grounds without any obstacles, restrictions apply only to men and women who are already in military service. That is, the only exception when women are prohibited from traveling abroad is only those women who are active military personnel (under contract or voluntary mobilization) – the border crossing rules for military personnel apply to them (availability of leave, business trip, etc.).
Reserve+ for women: do I need to download if I am a doctor by education?
Digitalization has significantly simplified the lives of not only men, but also women who are subject to military service. Women with medical or pharmaceutical education must adhere to the rules of military registration, that is, women who have not yet registered or who needed to update their data and have not done so face an administrative fine of 17,000 to 25,500 hryvnias. However, to resolve issues with military registration or pay a fine, it is not necessary to go and stand in queues at the CCC and the SP at the place of residence registration, it is enough to simply install Reserve+ to monitor the status of military registration, update data and pay CCC fines.
The “Reserve+” application is available to women on the same terms as for men. You can log in via BankID and update your contact information. After that, the application will generate an electronic military registration document with a QR code, which has the same legal force as a paper one.
Myths vs Reality about Women’s Mobilization
| A myth spread online | Reality according to the Law |
| “From April 1, all women under the age of 60 will begin to be mobilized, summoned, and forcibly taken into the army.” | Women are called up for military service during mobilization only with their voluntary consent . Women are rarely sent summonses. Women are not forcibly taken to the front without their consent. |
| “The border will be closed to female doctors from April 1, 2026” | There are no travel restrictions for women who are registered in the military (not active military personnel) and there are no legislative plans for April 1, 2026. |
| “The list of professions for military registration has been expanded, now there are teachers and cashiers” | The law on military registration remains unchanged as of April 1, 2026. Only doctors and pharmacists are subject to mandatory registration . |
FAQ: Answers to the most burning questions
Will they serve summonses to women on the streets?
No. Current practice does not provide for the distribution of summonses to women at checkpoints or on the streets. If a female doctor has not yet registered, she must independently contact the CCC (or update her data online), but the law does not work to “catch” women.
What are the consequences for doctors for not evading registration by April 1?
If a woman with a medical specialty ignores the legal requirement to register for military service, she may be subject to an administrative fine for violating military registration rules (Article 210 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) from 17,000 to 25,500 hryvnias and be “wanted” in the Reserve+. However, this does not mean automatic sending to the front or forced mobilization at the border.
Can a woman be mobilized if she has 3 or more young children?
Even if a woman has decided to mobilize voluntarily, having children under the age of 18 (or other important family circumstances) is a legal basis for receiving a deferment. In addition, women with minor children can serve at their place of residence.
