Important church holiday dates in May 2026: according to the church calendar according to the old style, May will be full of important transitive and non-transitive holidays, including the Ascension of the Lord ( May 21 ) and Holy Trinity Day ( May 31 ).

  • May 6: Half of Pentecost. Memorial Day of the Martyr George the Victorious and the Holy Queen Alexandra.
  • May 7: Memory of the Martyrs Savva Stratilates, Valentine, Luke; St. Elizabeth of Constantinople.
  • May 8: Commemoration of the Apostle and Evangelist Mark; St. Sylvester of Obnor.
  • May 9: Memory of the Holy Martyr Basil of Amasia; Righteous Glafira the Virgin; St. John of the Virgin. Also on this day, the commemoration of deceased soldiers is held.
  • May 10: 5th Sunday after Easter, about the Samaritan woman. Commemorated are St. Stephen, Bishop Volodymyr-Volynsky, and the Apostle and Martyr Simeon.
  • May 11: Commemoration of the 70th martyrs Jason and Sosipater, the virgin of Kerkyra, and other victims. Also commemorated are St. Cyril of Turov and St. Anna.
  • May 12: Commemoration of St. Amphilochius of Pochaiv; St. Nektarios of Optina; St. Basil of Ostrog.
  • May 13: Commemoration of the Feast of the Transfiguration. Memorial Day of St. James Zebedee and St. Ignatius Brianchaninov.
  • May 14: Day of Blessed Tamara, the Mother of Georgia. Veneration of the Icon of the Mother of God “Unexpected Joy”.
  • May 15: Memory of St. Athanasius the Great; blessed canons Boris and Gleb.
  • May 16: Venerable Theodosius of Kiev-Pechersk; Martyrs Timothy and Mavra; Venerable Juliania and Eupraxia of Moscow are commemorated.
  • May 17: 6th Sunday after Easter, about the blind man. Memorial day of St. Pelagia of Tarsus; co-martyr Erasmus, Bishop of Formica.
  • May 18: Memory of the Holy Martyrs Irina and St. Varlaam of Serpukhov. Veneration of the Icon of the Mother of God “The Inexhaustible Chalice”.
  • May 19: Commemoration of St. Job of Pochaiv; St. Job the Long-Suffering; St. Michael of Radonezh.
  • May 20: Commemoration of the Easter holiday. Commemoration of the appearance of the cross in the sky in Jerusalem. Commemoration of the martyr Akakiy.
  • May 21: THE ASCENSION OF THE LORD . Also on this day, the Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian and St. Arseny the Great are honored.
  • May 22: Transfer of the relics of St. Nicholas of Myra.

  • May 24: 7th Sunday after Easter, the holy fathers of the First Ecumenical Council. Commemorated are the Equal-to-the-Apostles Methodius and Cyril, teachers of the Slavs.

  • May 26: Saint Glykeria the Virgin; Martyr Macarius of Kaniv; Saint Euthymius of Iveron; Martyr Alexander of Rome are commemorated.
