The active phase of the war in Ukraine has been going on for more than 4 years. It is now 5 years since the start of the full-scale invasion, and what seemed impossible at the beginning is becoming commonplace: shelling of the territory of the Russian Federation, its warehouses, ships, factories, oil and gas sector facilities, and much more.
However, the ongoing military aggression from the Russian Federation takes lives every day, destroys everything around, and causes only one desire in millions of people for all this to end as soon as possible. Therefore, in this article, we decided to analyze the information space and general trends. What predictions regarding the end of the war and the conclusion of peace in Ukraine exist now?
Predictions for the end of the war in 2026 from Ukraine
All important events often have a small beginning, everything starts with inconspicuous things and then grows into a real event. This is what President Volodymyr Zelenskyy already said in his evening address (see video below).
Thus, the president commented on the speech of the Russian leader with his statement of consent to a meeting with “Mr. Zelensky” (which, by the way, was the first since the full-scale one, when Putin called the Ukrainian president a subject of negotiations, different from the previous general offensive formulations such as “puppet regime” and others) in a tete-a-tete format in Moscow or a third country:
“Now Putin himself says that he is finally ready for real meetings. We pushed him a little, and we have been preparing for the meeting for a long time. Therefore, we need to find a format, we need to end this war, and reliably guarantee security.” — said President Volodymyr Zelensky

People may lie, but their money doesn’t lie, conveying real expectations in the defense market. Interestingly, the shares of global defense giants are falling sharply amid expectations of a war freeze .
The unmanned systems sector was hit the hardest. In particular, shares of AeroVironment more than halved.
The share price of Lockheed Martin (manufacturer of HIMARS systems) and other major market players fell by about 25%.
Analysts attribute this dynamic to changing expectations regarding the war in Ukraine. The market is starting to price in a possible “freezing” of the conflict, which would mean a decrease in orders.

How do the world assess the chances of peace in Ukraine?
The probability of a ceasefire in Ukraine in 2026 is estimated at almost 99%, according to users of the international betting network for all possible events in the world. Interestingly,
even before Putin’s statement yesterday about a possible dialogue, the forecast was at 28%.
Some users were boldly confident that direct hostilities between Russia and Ukraine would end by June 30, 2026 .

Of course, no one can say for sure when the war in Ukraine will end, or whether a peace agreement will be signed in 2026. However, there are many initial signs that peace is closer than ever, as Russia weakens every day, and Ukraine modernizes and gains military strength. While Putin is announcing possible negotiations, the Ukrainian president does not reject them, but on the contrary supports those proposing to determine the exact time and place.
International market research shows that Ukraine’s partners, while remaining somewhat pessimistic, are still bullish, but the soaring value of defense companies’ shares speaks for itself. Also, millions of users around the world are already betting that a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine could be reached as early as 2026.
