Half of July is already behind us, and the traditional summer heat has not happened to most western and central regions. Although this month has often received the status of the warmest month of the year in previous years, could 2026 be an exception? After relatively moderate temperatures in the middle of the month, the second half of July, according to the forecasts of the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, may again test Ukrainians for strength with its heat.
The sun in the second half of the month will first scorch the west (most European cities are already feeling the hot summer heat, and it will later spread to Ukraine) and then absorb the entire territory of Ukraine to the east. Hot air will stand like a wall, and city asphalt will accumulate heat until late at night in large cities, which will create the effect of hot summer nights when you have to sleep with the windows wide open. But when will you finally be able to breathe freely and is it worth waiting for freshness in the coming weeks? Read all about this in detail below in our material.

What do the weather forecasters and the Hydrometeorological Center say?

If we analyze the weather forecast in Ukraine for the end of July in detail, we can assume that the third decade of the month will begin with a powerful heat wave. The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center notes that from July 20 to 25, a blocking anticyclone will prevail over the country, which will block access to moist air from the Atlantic. Because of this, even a new temperature record is possible in the south and east of the country , when thermometers in the shade will reach extreme +35…+37°C.
However, as forecasters unanimously note , this hot stability will not last forever. Closer to the last days of the month, the weather picture will change dramatically due to the invasion of an active atmospheric front from northwestern Europe.
Cold snap and rain with thunderstorms: how July will end

The change in weather to cool and rainy freshness will begin in the last days of the month, starting in the western regions and gradually, like a wave, moving inland. The long-awaited cold snap in Ukraine in July may come approximately on July 26–28. This transition process will traditionally be accompanied by sharp drops in atmospheric pressure and gusty squalls. For weather-dependent and all those sensitive to the weather, it is worth being careful and not overloading yourself.

Many citizens will feel relief, because the scorching sun will be replaced by heavy rains with thunderstorms , in some places heavy downpours and even hail are possible. The heat will quickly recede, and by the end of the month a very comfortable regime will be established in most regions of Ukraine: the air will warm up to +22…+26°C during the day, and the nights will become truly fresh, giving a full rest from the summer suffocation.
