How much is paid for the birth of a child in 2026
In 2026, according to the changes introduced by the Government, from January 1, Ukraine will have a one-time state benefit at the birth of a child , the amount of which is 50,000 hryvnias , a one-time payment to your card, without taxation. Previously, a payment scheme for 3 years (10,320 hryvnias immediately + 860 hryvnias/month) was in effect, which is preserved for children born before 2026.
The payment is divided into two parts:
- First payment — 10,320 hryvnias (immediately after birth)
- Second payment — 30,960 hryvnias (2,580 hryvnias each month during the year)
This amount is fixed and does not depend on the family’s income. It is paid for each newborn child.

Who is entitled to assistance at the birth of a child?
Not only citizens of Ukraine are entitled to a one-time benefit, but the following can also receive a payment upon the birth of a child:
- Foreigners and stateless persons permanently residing in Ukraine
- Refugees and persons in need of additional protection
Childbirth allowance for both the first child and subsequent children is granted in turn, regardless of whether the parents work, are self-employed, or are on maternity leave.
How to receive a payment for the birth of a child on a card: step-by-step instructions
Step 1. Register the birth of the child at the Civil Registry Office ( see contacts of Civil Registry Offices in Ukraine here ). Within 1 month after birth, submit documents to the civil registry office or through the Central Administrative Center/Diya.
Step 2. Get a Ukrainian birth certificate

You can do this:
- Through Diya (the most convenient and fastest, because the system will automatically pull up birth information from the registry and you will not need to enter it manually)
- Through the ASC (any ASC in your city)
- Directly in the Department of Social Protection of the Population
Step 4. Wait for the payment. The first part (10,320 UAH) arrives within 10–30 days after submitting the application. The second part – monthly for a year.
What documents are needed to receive assistance?
- Statement from one of the parents
- Child’s birth certificate
- Applicant’s passport
- TIN (identification code) of the applicant
- Bank account details (IBAN)
If the child was born abroad, an apostille and translation of documents are required.
Additional payments upon the birth of a child
In addition to state assistance, a family can receive:
- Assistance from the local authorities of the ATC (in some communities, additional funds are paid upon your application for financial assistance)
- Financial assistance from the employer (also upon application for financial assistance upon the birth of a child)
- Payments for IDPs (if the family is internally displaced from an IDP support center)
- Assistance to large families (if you have 3 or more children, you can apply for other state programs to assist large families).
