On June 12, 2026, Resolution No. 768 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of June 12, 2026 approved a new form of contract, which provides for increased motivational factors for foreigners and stateless persons to perform military service during martial law.
The selection of foreigners and stateless persons for military service under a motivational contract is carried out in accordance with the Regulations on military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine by foreigners and stateless persons, approved by Decree of the President of Ukraine dated June 10, 2016 No. 248 , and the Regulations on military service in the National Guard of Ukraine by foreigners and stateless persons, approved by Decree of the President of Ukraine dated February 21, 2024 No. 84 .
Selection of foreign military personnel and stateless persons
Military service by foreigners and stateless persons under a motivational contract is carried out without undergoing a medical examination to determine their fitness for military service based on their health. Measures for the professional and psychological selection of such servicemen are not carried out.
For foreigners and stateless persons who are accepted for military service under a motivational contract, the military unit organizes the completion of: basic combined arms training:
for citizens who have not undergone such training – lasting from 51 days;
professional training – lasting from 14 days (if necessary);
adaptation course in a military unit – duration 14 days.
