Every day it gets colder on the streets, the winter heating season of 2026-2027 is approaching. So, Odessa residents are wondering when they will turn on the electricity in their apartments, what their connection queue is, and who is responsible for this.
When will heating be provided in Odessa?
Heat supply to residential apartment buildings in Odessa is not based on a fixed date, but on weather conditions. Heating supply in Odessa occurs when the average daily temperature is stable at no higher than +8 degrees Celsius for 3 days and the weather forecast does not predict significant increases in the future.
The custom is mid-October to early November, that is, from October 15-17 to November 2-3, heating is supplied to apartment buildings in Odessa. Before that, it is first provided to social infrastructure facilities, which we will discuss further.
Heating connection queues
It is usually customary to distinguish 3 basic heating connection queues. As we wrote above, in the first place (beginning of October – approximately from October 1 to 15), heating is supplied to kindergartens, schools, and hospitals in the city.
Secondly, heating will be turned on for residents of apartment buildings and private houses connected to city heating networks.
Thirdly, and finally, heating is supplied to administrative buildings, retail premises, and businesses.
Who is responsible for the start of the heating season?
The decision on the start of the heating season in the city is made by the Mayor of Odessa (Mayor G. Trukhanov ) by signing the relevant order. The implementation and course of the heating season in the city is controlled by the Odessa City Council .
The physical supply of heat to your homes is the responsibility of the municipal enterprise “Odessa City Heat Supply” (TMO) . As well as a direct representative of your building, such as a management company, housing and communal services department, or an established condominium association.
