All parents want their child to study better, and quality education requires quality preparation and good tools. So in this article, we have prepared a mandatory checklist of items that parents of schoolchildren should not forget to purchase so that their child can immerse themselves in the school year that is about to begin.
We remind you that this year school begins on September 1, 2026 (Tuesday) and will last until June 30, 2027, as determined by the Government Resolution .

Diary and notebooks
This is the basis of the entire school year; a diary is needed not only for grades, which are the final result of the material covered, but also for quality planning, note-taking, and preparation for school days.
And to have plenty of material to draw from, it is imperative to purchase at least 3 notebooks for each subject (such as basic ones: mathematics, Ukrainian language, etc.):
- for tests (submitted to the teacher)
- for daily records
- for notes and checks by the teacher (as a substitute).
Book covers and stand
You need to learn not only from the teacher’s mouth, but also from the literature published in school. And to preserve it for future generations in the same condition in which the book was received by your child, you need a high-quality cover.
Additionally, to make it easier for the child to learn the material and the book does not take up much space at the desk, it is essential to have a stand with a convenient page holder.
Stationery set
In the pencil case that your child loves so much (by the way, don’t forget to buy it too, if you don’t have one left from last year), you need to put not just a pencil and a pen, but several pencils for different purposes, for example, graphite black for notes and writing in the margins that can be removed with an eraser + colored pencils for sketching and marking important things in such colors (red, green, yellow, and blue).
A set of rulers (one short at 15 cm and one long at 30 or 45 cm) and squares with compasses for drawing complex geometric shapes accurately and beautifully.
Power bank
There are some things in the modern world that parents of students cannot ignore, and a bank account is one of them. Yes, I understand the parents’ concerns about their child playing on the phone for long periods of time instead of lessons and studying, but in fact this thing has a more useful meaning in future learning, because the child can take information from the network for a long time, prepare for the lesson better, read new facts and literature that cannot be found in the school library, and most importantly, the child will always be in touch with you in case of power outages or power outages during shelling or triggers in the basement or bomb shelter.
Lunch box
Few people know, but the lunch box you bought for your child just recently, if it’s made of plastic, may already be unusable. Because through scratches, microparticles of plastic get into the child’s body along with the food, which is harmful.
So, to learn knowledge qualitatively, the brain needs stable work, which requires constant energy. For this, lunch or a snack for a child from home is a constant stimulus for good learning. But for this, it is worth taking care of a high-quality box, preferably made of glass or extra-strong plastic, so that the food from it is safe for the student.
